Mini Beast Safari

Armed with only a net, observation jar and identification sheet we set off to the education garden to look for mini beasts in air, water and on land. Depending on the time of year children will find newts, gruesome looking may fly nymphs, dragon flies, water boatmen, butterflies, centipedes and all other bugs and crawlies. Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Activities:

  • Pond dipping
  • Land bug hunting

'How does your garden grow?'

A new session developed to show children where food comes from and how plants grow. Children will see our fruit trees and vegetable plots and have a chance to plant seeds (to take back to school and watch them grow), plant seedlings in our vegetable plot and harvest a seasonal crop to take home. Suitable for any age and ability.

Activities:

  • See familiar foods being grow
  • Plant seeds
  • Plant seedlings
  • Harvest vegetables (if available)

Make a day of your ecology trip with these two sessions and the tree trail and the glasshouse trail.
